About us

I am SO not a computer savvy person. This is my first attempt at writing a blog, and I really have no idea what I'm doing. LOL! Here goes... Joshua and I met about 15 years ago, in our church. I was only around 14 then, and he was on his first assignment in the Air Force. We would see each other at church, and say hello, and he did teach a couple of lessons in our youth group. Actually, I didn't like him at ALL. Haha! But I was a rebellious teenager and thought his ideas about "courting" were strange and antiquated. Fast forward a couple of years. I graduated from homeschool at 16 years old, and got my CNA degree over the summer, while living with family a couple of hours from home. While visiting home on the weekends, my dad, who directs the choir in the church, had Josh and I sit next to each other. :) We started talking and got to know each other a bit. We continued to talk and when my dad found out that I was interested, he took Josh aside, without my knowing it, and totally embarrassed me by "giving his blessing" for us to court and pursue marriage. LOL! From there, things went quickly. I had been praying for a godly husband, and all I wanted was to get married and be a wife and mom. I know that God put us together! We were engaged 4 months later, and married 3 months after that. We were transferred to Ohio, where we were blessed with our first 2 boys, and then New York, where we were again blessed with 2 more boys! I stay home and school all of my boys, and Joshua is still active military. I have always prayed that one day the Lord would allow us to adopt. I can't tell you how many adoption packets I've sent for, and blogs I've read, and orphans that I have looked at and prayed for over the years. Joshua never felt like it was something we should do. It just wasn't his desire. We kept busy with 4 pregnancies and 4 little ones in a row, and now my "baby" is almost 6 years old. I have been feeling the Lord's leading to again look at adoption, and God has done a work on Josh's heart, and we feel the time is right! We are ready to open our hearts and home to a child in need, and our boys are super excited about a baby brother! Right now we are starting to save up funds for the adoption process. We have looked at many different programs and countries, and have decided to use an agency that is highly recommended by a friend. At least, we hope to be accepted into the program when the time comes. The agency is CCAI (Chinese Children Adoption International). We have also talked extensively on the subject of gender. As much as I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a daughter(I'm WAY outnumbered here), we have chosen to ask for a son. With 4 boys already, we think it's the best option not only for our family, but also for the child we bring home. Can you imagine being the baby girl in a family full of crazy boys??? I cannot tell you how excited I am! I am praying constantly, that God give me the strength to be patient until we are able to send off our application. But I know that it's all in HIS timing, not mine. We ask that you please pray for the Corner family!!! We have a long road ahead of us, but it's SO worth it. :)
